Armscroft Park

A new flood alleviation scheme incorporated into an existing public park.

Armscoft Park is located close to Gloucester city centre, and has been remodelled as part of a wider flood alleviation scheme. The existing park, located alongside Wotton Brook, is a popular area of open space with a number of mature trees, and play and sports areas. The Richards Partnership worked with the project engineers to reconfigure the floodplain to accommodate larger volumes of water during periods of high rainfall, while retaining the trees. The slopes were designed to be subtle and natural in shape in order to retain the park’s existing character.
