Development of a Landscape Strategy for a site in Gloucestershire.

This 20 hectare site is situated to the north of Dursley on the east-facing slopes of the Cotswold Escarpment, with long views over the Vale of Berkley. The site’s landscape development strategy, including the location and extent of development, evolved out of the findings of the landscape and visual appraisal. In recognition of the prominent nature of the site’s western boundary, development was focused into two lower, more visually contained development parcels ‘knitted’ onto the existing urban edge, with wide belts of native structure planting screening them from the rural landscape to the east.
