Newhouse Farm & Snatchfield Farm
Church Stretton
A landscape, visual and urban appraisal of a potential development site in Shropshire.
This study reviewed the landscape and visual context of our client’s site on the south-eastern edge of Church Stretton in relation to the Council’s preferred site at the town’s northern entrance. Both sites were located within the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making them particularly sensitive. The assessment of the sites supported the promotion of the Snatchfield Farm site, which had an urban context on three of its four boundaries. The proposal was supported by a landscape strategy illustrating how development could be sensitively knitted onto the edge of the town without adversely affecting the character of the area.
