Landscape Design

The practice undertakes all elements of landscape design, from the development of concept proposals through to detailed tender packages and on-site construction.

We respond to each site individually, assessing opportunities and constraints to ensure the best possible solution is realised. Once a design has been agreed, its successful implementation on site is of the utmost importance; the practice has many years of experience in the preparation of contract documents and supervision of site work,
where attention to detail can make or break the success of a scheme.

We have proven ability in consulting with local authorities, highways authorities and statutory consultees, with a long list of negotiated planning consents to our credit.
We are used to working with clients who demand innovative, attractive and sustainable designs within specified budgets.

Environmental Assessment

The practice has a long track record in the preparation of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments, either as stand-alone documents or as part of Environmental Statements.

We believe that landscape and visual assessment should be an iterative process, ensuring that as a design develops, it responds to the findings of the assessment work and potential adverse effects are addressed as they are identified.

Our team is fully conversant with industry guidelines and able to draw upon sophisticated modelling and ZTV computer software to assist in the prediction, evaluation and presentation of proposals.

The practice also has a strong track record on a wide range of Public Inquires.

Masterplanning

The practice undertakes landscape masterplanning and urban design projects.

Designs evolve out of an objective evaluation and analysis of a site’s opportunities and constraints, with co-ordinated input from a range of disciplines. Progressing from broad development concepts, through to development frameworks and detailed layouts, we aim to produce creative, attractive and commercially viable designs that meet both the clients’ and local authorities’ requirements.

Residential

The practice has a wide experience of different types of residential development ranging from single dwellings to large scale urban extensions.

Our clients range from private individuals to housing associations and national house builders. Whatever the scale, we aim to create attractive environments, with safe streetscapes and a strong sense of place which will help to engender a sense of pride and ownership in future residents.

Public Realm

The practice has worked on a variety of different public realm projects from the conservation of historic parks to the introduction of new urban squares.

We always aim to create attractive, sustainable, safe and legible environments which will attract locals and visitors and add vibrancy to the local environment.

Education

The practice has worked on a range of college and university campuses in both the UK and abroad.

A sound understanding of the way that a campus functions is a vital starting point in the design process. Liaising with lectures, teachers and students we develop our designs to respond to their needs and requirements and provide attractive, functional and safe spaces in which to play and learn.

Retail & Commercial 

The practice has experience of a wide range of retail and commercial schemes ranging from relatively small scale car show rooms to large retail parks.

Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams we aim to ensure safe, legible routes are provided for motorists and pedestrians within attractive environments which promote the clients’ brand.

Energy & Infrastructure

The practice has worked on a variety of energy and infrastructure projects. Each form of energy generation comes with its own challenges, be it vapour plumes, the height and mass of buildings, reflection or associated power transfer lines.

The practice has experience in both the design and environmental assessment of proposals to realise creative and environmentally sustainable solutions. Projects have included an energy park, a recycling centre and a number of solar farms.

Habitat Creation

The practice recognises the importance of conserving and enhancing biodiversity and the natural environment in which we live.

We also recognise the challenges that can arise with particular habitats and species during the development process. We work closely with a number of ecological and arboricultural practices to help guide projects through the planning process and enhance biodiversity where possible.

In addition to creating and implementing sustainable schemes, we are also experienced in writing landscape and green infrastructure management plans, which help to ensure the successful establishment and long term success of our designs.
